The Vidyalaya was set up in 1985 to meet the Educational needs of the Children of the Central Govt. employee of the District. Initially it was housed in a relief centre at Thalangara. Later it was shifted to another relief centre at Anangoor. Now, the need for a permanent building was felt more keenly than ever before. Consequently, Govt. of Kerala provided 10 acres of land at Udayagiri near Vidyanagar and the foundation stone for the building was laid in 1988 by the then Governor of Kerala Mr. P.Ramachandran.
